Be Part of the Long Course Weekend

Long Course Weekend is a unique festival of sport that offers an unbeatable atmosphere. Over three days athletes can choose events from three disciplines (swim, bike, run) and multiple distances to create a tailor-made weekend course for their ability or training needs. We are delighted to be able to deliver an event that attracts swimmers, cyclists, runners and triathletes together for one weekend. We encourage you to get involved with some of the other disciplines on offer throughout the weekend, with a variety of distances on offer each day.

The Cycle Flanders Fields - Starting in the stunning seaside town of Nieuwpoort, just 40 minutes from Calais. Riders head southwest following the World War 1 front line toward Diksmuide, Ypres and the sobering Menin Gate. The route is dotted with monuments and cemeteries from both Wars which pay respect to those who lost their lives fighting for freedom. The Menin Gate alone is a tribute to over 55,000 soldiers whose remains were never found, and hosts the Last Post every evening at 8pm. From the Plugstreets (which soldiers used during the war to travel) to meticulously preserved trenches, there is a true sense of pride and remembrance associated with this event with athletes able to pay their respects across numerous sites on route. Yser Tower, Tynne Cot Cemetery, Trench of Death and the many memorials are all part of this memorable journey. For the avid race fans, the course covers a large section of the annual Pro Gent-Wevelgem race, which attracts the worlds top professionals to Flanders Fields. It's your chance to follow in your hero's footsteps attempting the famous "cobbled streets" and the celebrated Kemmelberg.
